It started with a simple idea: car parks could do more.

We began with solar car parks, transforming everyday parking spaces into places that could generate clean energy and power EV charging.

But the more sites we worked with, the clearer something became. Generating energy was only part of the answer. We needed a smarter way to manage it too.

That idea became the foundation for what came next.

Site after site was facing the same challenges. The demand for EV charging was growing, but grid constraints, lengthy infrastructure projects and complexity were getting in the way.

We believed there had to be a simpler way.

So we built it.

We brought solar, intelligent energy management and EV charging together in one prefabricated system.

Designed and built in the UK. Works with any grid capacity. Not fixed, so it can move if you do. Tested off-site and installed in as little as one day.

With funding from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, delivered through Innovate UK, 3ti was selected to design and trial a bidirectional V2X charging system.

Solar generation, battery storage and V2X-capable charging were brought together through a single grid-facing inverter.

A six-month real-world trial at Millbrook explored how EVs could do more than consume energy.

They could give it back.
